What To Expect After Optimization
Website optimization is not
an overnight cure to poor search engine rankings.
It is a methodical step by step process designed
to provide a website with all the major components
it needs to rank well.
So what can a site owner expect after an optimization?
Well that depends on whether the site was optimized
prior to launch or after the fact. Once a website
has been launched, certain things happen over
the next few months. First off, the website is
crawled and then subsequently
indexed by the various search engines. If optimization
is in place prior to the crawl it is possible
to show up in the search results for some of a
sites lesser keywords.
On the other hand, if it was not optimized when
the site was first crawled the site receives an
unfavorable ranking and will remain buried in
the SERP's until the site is crawled again thus
replacing the old information with the newly optimized
content.
In either case, once the site has been optimized
the statistics will show a slow stream of traffic
starting to find it's way to your website with
search terms. This will continue to happen over
the next year with the amount of traffic gradually
increasing each month. If the site continues to
grow so will it's ranking as other sites drop
off or grow stagnant.
Website owners who have had a website online
for a year or more prior to optimization will
notice things happening much faster than those
who have just launched a site. A site just starting
out has no indexed pages and
therefore must acquire them as time passes. A
one year old website already has indexed pages.
Granted, these pages might not rank well but at
least they are part of the index. Optimizing the
site now provides a better ranking for these already
indexed pages driving them up the search results
almost overnight.
Having your site optimized is
only half the battle to owning a high ranking
website. You will also need to run a link building
campaign in order to increase your sites link
popularity. Once you have an optimized website
and a steady stream of new inbound links you can
start the process of building organic
listings in the search engines.
